To create such an elegant accessory with your own hands, the remnants of not only luxurious and expensive fabrics, but also any others that you just like, are suitable.


Practical grace: what is a clasp


You will need:

✂ fabric for handbags;

✂ cotton fabric for lining;

✂ clasp clasp;

✂ chain;

✂ tailor pins;

✂ thread and needle for sewing;

✂ ruler;

✂ copy wheel;

✂ chalk pencil;

✂ thimble, clothespins;

✂ thread for embroidery

Step 1

Pin a part of a paper pattern with a fold to the main fabric and cut the part with allowances 1 cm wide.

In the same way, cut the part from the lining fabric.

The pattern of the bag must be drawn on a piece of paper, and then cut. The size of the pattern depends on the size of the clasp.

Step 2

Using carbon paper and a copy wheel, mark the middle and crease lines on the details of the bag and lining.

Step 3

On parts from the main fabric and on the lining, stitch and sweep the folds towards the midline.

Step 4

Fold the main part and the lining part one by one, facing inwards, chop and grind along the side cuts at a distance of 1 cm from the edge.

Step 5

On the lining part, make side seams in the same way, leaving a hole of approx. 8 cm for eversion.

Step 6

On the parts of the main fabric and the details of the lining parallel to the side seams, lay the corners and stitch each at a distance of approx. 4 cm. Cut the allowances of each seam close to the stitch.

Step 7

Fold the detail of the bag from the main fabric and the lining and stitch it with the front sides to each other.

Stitch open sections 1 cm from the edge. Turn out a handbag.

Step 8

Turn the bag through the hole in the lining.

Sew open seam area manually.

Attach the handbag to the clasp clasp with clothespins and sew with thread for manual embroidery.
